Maxicode Barcode 2D Font is a machine-readable symbol having maximum capacity of 93 data characters and 8 maxicode symbols can be chained together to convey more data. Maxicode barcode is developed by United Parcel Service for automatic sortation and tracking of packages. Maxicode barcode font can store a Primary Message and a Secondary message (less important information). While the secondary message comprises address information, the primary message includes a zip code, country code, and class.
A circular bull’s-eye finder pattern made up of three concentric circles, six orientation patterns, and 33 rows of 29 or 30 hexagonal modules are all included in a MaxiCode barcode.
MaxiCode is mostly used to designate goods, pallets, etc. It guarantees that crucial data is always accessible during the processing of the cargo.
MaxiCode was created to be a part of a delivery system manifest that already existed. MaxiCode can also be used in place of less dense characters like linear bar codes because of its small size.
MaxiCode has a wide field of vision and can be read quickly, which is one of its main advantages. Thus, automated information processing systems may effectively employ this code.
The Primary message includes
- A national or international postal code.
- A 3-digit country code
- A 3-digit class of service code assigned by the carrier
Modes supported by Barcode Software to create MaxiCode
Mode 2 - Formatted data with a structured carrier message and a maximum nine-digit postal code. With this option, MaxiCode is mostly used for domestic US destinations.
Mode 3 - In this mode, a MaxiCode Barcode may encrypt data in an international format that includes an organised carrier message and an alphanumeric postal code. MaxiCode can be utilised in other countries thanks to this option.
Mode 4 - Standard Error Correction is used in this mode to encode unformatted data or generic information.
MaxiCode's enhanced error correction level in Mode 5 makes it more secure.
For programming hardware devices, use Mode 6.

Designing Procedure
For demonstration purpose, we are designing Maxicode barcode font with Barcode Designing View panel, you can also design your barcode using Quick Barcode Mode panel as per choice.
First add barcode by clicking on barcode icon from drawing tools. Now double click on added barcode to open its property as shown below.
➨ Barcode Technologies and Font Type Selection: Select Barcode Technology (Linear or 2D) with barcode font type (Maxicode) then enter barcode value along with other details including encoding mode, country code, service class and zip code.
➨ Specify Card Shape and Dimension: Specify card shape, name and size of label etc. using Label properties. If there is any need of colored barcode labels, fill different background colors like gradient solid etc.
Go to toolbar and click on print icon to print your designed barcode label. Choose one of the printing modes (Pre Define Label Stock Mode or Manual Mode).
➨ Printing using Manual Mode: In Manual print mode, set all required fields including page properties using Edit button, page margins, margin between labels, label size and spacing, print range, and other print options manually as per requirement. Select a Thermal Printer (for e.g.: Zebra TLP2844) to start printing MaxiCode Barcode font.
➨Printing using Pre Define Label Stock Mode: You can also print your designed barcode using another printing mode (i.e. Pre Define Label Stock mode).
In Pre Define Label Stock mode, Select Label product with product number and choose printer as per requirement, software allow you to Add, Edit and Delete a custom label product with user define product number. After choosing label product and product number all the label properties automatically filled, now select a Laser printer (for e.g.: HP LaserJet CP 1025). Press print button to start printing process.
➨ Barcode Label Scanning Process: MaxiCode barcode font is now ready to use. Scan it with the help of any 2D barcode scanner device.
