Databar Code 128 is a 2D barcode font that can encode large amount of data in small space. Databar code 128 barcode font is very useful for POS (point of sale) to encode manufacturing date, expiry date and price on small article.
A high density, alphanumeric barcode with variable length is called Databar Code 128. Another linear barcode that is used in business and retail is the Databar Code 128, which can represent both alphabetic and numeric characters without reducing barcode density. Databar Code 128 barcode is a high-density linear symbology that can encode all 128 ASCII characters as well as text, numbers, and various more functions (from ASCII 0 to ASCII 128.)
There are 106 distinct printed barcode designs in Databar Code 128. Databar code 128 can encode a character in 3 bars and 3 spaces. There are six parts in Databar Code 128:

With the help of this software user can use composite technology to encode more data characters in barcode. The composite component generally represent in the first row of barcode technology. These composite components are classified into three categories CC-A, CC-B, and CC-C. CC-A helps in encoding or storing 56 characters in the PDF417 format and on the other hand CC-B component takes place automatically when the number of characters exceeds from 56 to 57 or even more. CC-C is only be used with GS1-128 barcode technology.
Advantages:
- All ASCII digits (along with all special characters) may be encoded using Databar Code 128 without the need for complicated techniques.
- Stores a lot of data in a short barcode thanks to its six-element encoding scheme, which consists of three bars and three spaces.
- It increases data security for encoded data and reduces the possibility of scanning errors.
- For messages with a high level of message integrity and six or more characters, Databar code 128 uses the least amount of label space.
Disadvantages:
- Each encoded character has four possible width variations. Printing a barcode with four distinct width variants for each piece is difficult.
- To read these bar codes, more sophisticated scanning equipment is needed.
- Databar code 128 is prone to distortions and is readily breakable.
- Since Databar Code 128 uses four different bar sizes, high-quality printers are necessary. Neither dot matrix printers nor ink-jet printers can produce Databar code 128 properly.
Designing Procedure:
To start designing process of barcode, choose one of the designing panel of DRPU Software either Barcode Settings panel or Barcode Designing View panel. We are going to use Barcode Designing View to generate Databar Code 128 Barcode Font. Go to toolbar and click on barcode icon to add it. In order to open the properties of barcode, double click on it.
➨ Barcode Technologies and Font Type Selection: Now, choose your barcode technologies and font type. Then go to value tab to set barcode value along with optional composite data, header and footer fields etc. Composite data value refers to 2D Composite symbol printed directly above the linear barcode.
➨ Size Settings: Go to size tab, to set bar height, X-dimension and various margins etc. Click ‘OK’ to proceed.
➨ Specify Card Shape and Dimension: To specify card name, shape and size etc, go to card properties. As shown in above screenshot.
After designing your desired barcode label, go to print option and choose one of the printing modes.
➨ Printing using Manual Mode: In Manual mode, specify all required fields like page properties (using Edit button), margins and print options as per requirement.
➨ Barcode label printing: Different types of printers available in market for printing barcode labels but with the help of Thermal Printer, you can print high quality bulk barcodes in minutes. You can choose other barcode printers too according to your business requirements.
➨ Printing using Pre Define Label Stock Mode: After designing your Barcode Label, you can also choose Pre Define Label Stock mode of printing.
In case of Pre Define Label Stock mode, select label product with product number to get corresponding label details. Next step is to set printer details. Software also provides facility to use custom settings and save it for future reference.
➨ Barcode printing process: On clicking ‘Print’ button, you will get Databar code 128 barcode font sheet. Below sheet is printed using Laser printer.
