Benefits provided by Databar barcode technology
- Maximise profits, reduce food waste, and provide consumers discounts who buy food that is about to expire.
- Retail systems improve their handling of sell by and expiry dates.
- Less scanning mistakes than UPC and EAN symbols due to the internal check digit with an advanced modulus of 79 or above. Only a mod-10 check digit is used in EAN and UPC symbols.
- The Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) 8, 12, 13, or 14 are among the four GTIN kinds that may be used in GS1 DataBar, which encodes 14 digits.
- Real - time visibility and the ability to recall products.
- Since 2010, POS systems must be able to read DataBar symbols. It is a good idea to progressively switch to DataBar now in order to be ready for when it is needed.
- The data compacting techniques used by each GS1 DataBar member are tailored to the data strings they will encode.
- Databar Barcode innovation finds suppliers of fresh vegetables.
- Better product monitoring, product tracking, and product category management are made possible by the ability of GS1 DataBar to carry GS1 Application Identifiers (AI) such serial numbers, lot numbers, and expiration dates (click here for more details).
- Compared to UPC and EAN symbols, the Databar barcode typeface delivers faster scanning rates.
- GS1 DataBar is 50% smaller than EAN-13 or UPC-A Bar Code Symbols but has double the amount of information as the EAN/UPC bar code currently in use. Special identifying bars are used in the new GS1 DataBar symbology to get around the need for a silent zone surrounding the bar code.
